Transition Journal Analysis

The journal issue I read about was first day jitters for children. A young girl was experiencing her first day of preschool, clenching to her mother’s hand, not wanting to go inside, and crying as soon at her mother left. The journal mentioned how teachers can actually take advantage of this time as “an opportunity to help children learn the skills they need to express their emotions” (Fox & Lentini 2006). Transitioning from staying at home to going to preschool is a big step, and it takes time in order for the child to feel comfortable in a completely new setting.
