Many cultures have unique traditions to mark a boys transition into manhood. For example, male Jews at the age of thirteen have their Bar Mitzah and become adults in the eyes of Jewish Law. In other tribal cultures, boys may be expected to be able to endure a level of pain before they will be considered men. During the 1940s, transitioning from a boy to a man may have involved actually serving in World War II. However, in modern day America, there is no set path to becoming an adult - each individual finds his or her own path to maturity, although, this typically occurs before or around the age of eighteen in America.
