My teenage experience has been fun, yet definitely challenging! After turning thirteen years old , on January 3rd, 2013, I immediately got the feeling of becoming a teenager or a sense of growing up. The was a unique feeling as now people refer to me as a teenager rather than a twelve year old. The transition from a twelve year old to a thirteen year old teen wasn't a very smooth transition since now people around me expected much more and had higher standards of me. A transition from middle school to junior middle school was certainly a very challenging transition. Teachers in school expected more work, dedication and effort on assignments as well as a sense of maturity in school. Coaches expected higher intensity of play in practice and games. I was certainly not up to this difficult task of transition until two months into my thirteenth birthday where I truly realized that I wasn't a little kid anymore. …show more content…

I remember shivering and shaking during the actual quiz. After receiving my score back from my math teacher, Mrs. Johnson, I was in complete awe, I scored a 60 on a math quiz. This was very different and hard for me to absorb at the time because I did so well in math prior to this and received phenomenal grades until this incident. This incident, however actually helped me more than it harmed me. This 60 on a white piece of paper taught me and helped me become a better student. The transition from High School can often times be very frustrating for students. L. Lennie Irvin opened my eyes to one of the bad habits I picked up on in High school. Houston, Texas; surrounded by sweaty strangers, stomach stuffed with roast beef sandwich, and I listened to the band Waters for the first time. April, resembling preceding months, had been miserable. But as I stood there listening to the song "Mom & Dads", the concert grew beyond just a fun time; it became an escape from the past year. Purchasing the band's CD became my heart's only desire and money was no object; I'd listen to that one song over and over as it became the soundtrack to regaining control of my life.…

I have chosen to apply to the University of Central Florida because it will provide great opportunities out of school and while I’m still in school. Another reason I have chosen to apply is because it is far enough away from home to where I can gain my independence and find who I am without my parents around and because it is close enough to where in the event of an emergency I can still be home fairly quickly. In my life there has been multiple obstacles/bumps in the road in both my academic and personal life. Staring with my academic obstacles, both my elementary and middle school were not the best and left me with many gaps in my education, such as in math and science.…

My life began to spiral downward before fifth grade began. I found myself an endless loop over summer vacation of waking up, experiencing the day as a blur, sleep, then repeat. This drove me to discover a new way to spend my day. On the television I noticed a recurring advertisement for a game called ‘World of Warcraft’. At first I instilled the mindset that I could spend my time pragmatically but eventually I succumbed to boredom.…

Failure is an event no one wants to go through, but everyone has to go through to grow and prosper as an individual. My freshmen and sophomore year of high school is a time I experience failure. As I transitioned into high school from middle school, I had a difficult time adapting to the environment and work load I had encountered. My parents did not attend school in the United States, therefore, I did not have the support needed to transition into a different environment. Many times, I would feel very discouraged because I would not be doing well in class.…
