My transition from high school to college has been one to remember. The advice my next door neighbors have given me has been helpful. Making my first steps into the campus was breathtaking. Realizing that is apart of life, I understood my responsibilities. Predicting how my classes and professors would treat me, made me believe I'm ready for this experience. I can remember when I first started packing my bags into the car, and feeling the smiles from my neighbors as I was making my departure. My next door neighbors, the Tate's, had given me some words of advice before we hit the road. Mrs. Tate said "make sure you sit in the front of the class, make sure you are there to learn not just pass, and always put your school work first" she exclaimed with a smile on her face. This advice she had given me burned into my brain, so that I wouldn't forget it. Taking my …show more content…
Knowing missing my parents and family was going to come into play, I knew I had to stay strong for my same because being on my own also felt wonderful. I understood my responsibilities were even greater now. Getting myself up in the morning to go to class was one of them; making sure I eat right and stay fit and healthy was another. The biggest responsibility of all that I had and still have, was to make sure I gain the knowledge to succeed in life; there is not a bigger responsibility to me than that. The first day of class arrived and it came to be college was exactly what I expected it to be. My professors do not baby me like my high school teachers did. They don't get on me everyday about the homework and class assignments that are due. During lectures they won't wait on me to finish; I have to make sure I get all the notes with sufficient speed. Most importantly my prediction on late assignments was true, they're not tolerated. Expecting college to be this way is exactly why I believe I was ready for the
