Transition Classes In Elementary Schools

Improved Essays
Within the next five years I believe there will be some changes in the district. As of right the district is relocating teachers to different elementary schools in the area. In the fall they will also be implementing transition grades into the schools, such as Meadowbrook, one of the districts elementary schools. The transition classes are for students that are in-between grades at an academic point of view. For example, if a student is academically behind in kindergarten, and the school is debating to move the student forward, he or she may be placed in this classroom. For instance, This class will teach content from the end of kindergarten for the first part of the school year, and then in the second half the student will be taught first

Jefferson City Board of Education has decided that the students on the West side of Jefferson City who currently are attending, or will attend Thomas Jefferson Middle School, will be sent to the new high school off of Highway 179. Students who are attending or will attend Lewis and Clark Middle School will be sent to the renovated high school on 609 Union Street. With the many renovations between the original Jefferson City High School and the hopefully brand new school, there should not be any issues as to the standards of which high school your child will attend as for both schools will undergo many changes to the best of their ability. Many Jefferson City and surrounding area 9th graders attend Jefferson City’s Simonsen 9th Grade Center - which was originally established as only a temporary fix to the over-population in the Jefferson City High School which holds 3 other grades. Jefferson City High School currently is holding around 1,900 students and over weighing the limit by 40-50 every year for the past 15 years, while Simonsen 9th Grade Center is doing the…

This essay will describe how Sarah Wu’s book, Fed up with Lunch, discusses the horrendous problem outcomes found inside of a lunch system in a large Elementary School in Chicago that may include the true time that is given to eat the lunch, the unexpected nutrition found inside of every dish given, as well as the truth of keeping all the nutritional facts away from the public. The University of Tennessee’s FUTURE Program is a two-year certificate program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) including autism and is designated as a Comprehensive Transition Program by the U.S. Department of Education. FUTURE is part of an international trend in services for young adults with I/DD and addresses a significant social problem: inclusive education is widely available to children with special needs, but few post-secondary educational opportunities exist for these students. Additionally, there are often lengthy gaps between the cessation of child services and the availability of adult services. In many cases students with I/DD graduate from high school and simply sit at home. Students within…
