The discussion triggered the "bathroom policy" in the state of North Carolina. This law forces transgender individuals to use the bathroom that corresponds to their gender on their birth certificate. The conservatives, on the other hand, made it clear that the dispute was not over. The republican-dominated parliament had also adopted a corresponding draft - allegedly "protecting privacy". Republicans have argued that letting transgender women use little girls bathroom is inappropriate. While I believe in equal rights for all, I am a bit concerned about transgender women using the same bathroom as the rest of us, not because I am worried that those women would harm anyone, but it does worry me how this law could be easily exploited by men who might want to harm little girls or women. However, we will have to find a way to accommodate everyone equally while keeping us all safe and comfortable. This is definitely easier said than done. I am hopeful that the courts as well as the rest of the nation will be able to come up with a solution that will help benefit us
