Quebec has just passed a bill which aims to allow transgender minors to change their original name and gender on their birth certificates.
On Friday, Quebec approved a bill to change the Civil Code and help transgender teens officially change their name and gender. The province’s Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms will also be reformed to prohibit all forms of discrimination based on gender identity, The Huffington Post details.
The approval of the transgender bill in Quebec is similar to the reform implemented in Alberta, British Columbia, Labrador, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Manitoba, The Montreal Gazette notes.
