Transgender Bathrooms: The Myth and the Truth

There is one thing that we use on a daily basis that has recently caused the country to be in an uproar over the last few months, and it is something so simple that you have to wonder why it is even a topic of discussion at all. Still have no clue as to what I am referring to? It is the subject of bathrooms and who should be allowed or should I say made to use a certain bathroom that society identifies them as. With President Obama giving more rights to the people of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender movement; the issue with the bathrooms has now become the new gripe. The bathroom bill “Is the common name for either legislation or a statute that seeks to regulate access to public

Occupational Safety and Hazards Administration (OSHA),” delaying going to the bathroom when you need to go is unhealthy, and so, workplace policy may not encourage it. This is not to mention the dehydrating effects of trying to avoid using restrooms by limiting intake of liquids, another common strategy for TGNC people navigating uncomfortable bathroom situations in the workplace and at other public accommodations.”
The most critical aspect of gender transition according to the internationally medical protocol set by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health is to ensure that any transgender person is able to live and be treated by others in the matter consistent to whom they identify with. With the way that certain people feel about the right fir transgender people to use the bathroom in which they identify, some of the comments are ligament concerns, and others for example “ women and children will be left open to pedophiles and sex offenders” offers up no hard evidence to prove

When it comes to the men that are transitioning into women; they tend to not carry themselves as the man that the world sees on the outside, but as the woman that they feel like on the inside. By them portraying their true self anyone on the outside looking in can tell the difference for a regular man pretending to me a woman. Another thing that poke a hole in this whole issue is the fact that a lot of women are very mindful as to who comes into the restroom with them, if a fully dressed man walks into the bathroom and there is no form of feminist would definitely through up a red flag.
Take a look at Catelyn Jenner, we have seen her in the spotlight as a male and a female, as a man Bruce Jenner, looked, acted and portrayed himself in the manner of the man that he was, but when he started his transition, you could see him becoming more of a woman and having more of a woman characteristics, since he has changed over time, I highly doubt he will be going in a bathroom trying to touch

In early Islamic culture, a transgender woman called a mukhannathun, a woman who had been born a male but with natural femininity, was accepted and allowed to have relations with men or women. The mukhannathum held an important position in society, associated with music and entertainment, and are stated in the Qur’an as companions of women. They were companions of Prophet Muhammad and his wives, and close enough to accompany them in their homes. However, this is significant as a woman’s chamber is known to be a holy place for Muslims, and is forbidden to strangers and most unrelated men.…

The author argues that anyone who is not phased by breaking the law, wont stop them from entering a restroom that prohibits them from using either. In addition, the author argues that most people would not even notice a transgender using the public restroom, and if they did notice, they most likely would not confront them to find out if they are the right gender for the specific restroom they are in. Transgender is happening more and more, eventually lawmakers will have to figure out what will work and what will not work. For now, we can just hope to use the public restroom privately and safely and not be offended whether you are transgender or…

Maybe people should just avoid using public restrooms. Then there is the similar but different issue of locker rooms. Locker rooms are separated by gender to protect students, so how do we both protect transgendered students and cisgendered students? I wish I could say there was a simple solution, perhaps have four locker rooms rather than two. One for cis males, one for cis females, one for transgender males, one for transgender female.…

The just laws that ensure the safety and rights of transgendered students, originated from the problem of transgendered students having safe access to facilities that are gender specific. They will often be harassed because of the persons’ opposite gender identity and results in the creation of an unsafe environment. In this paper, I will argue that not only every state in the United States of America, but also every country around the world should enact a law that ensures the safety, rights, and desegregation of facilities for transgendered students. All humans have their own opinion and have the right to make their own decision. This includes the decision to choose one’s gender identity.…

Adolescence: The first time that I legitimately encountered homosexuality was in the eighth grade when my best friend came out to me as bisexual. Up until that point, the idea of non-heterosexual sexuality had been too distant to comprehend, but when my friend came out to me, it became a concept I could understand personally. The label instantly resided with me. I didn’t need time to consider, I came out to her as bisexual less than a week later, making use of the first sexual label I encountered.…

In some states there are laws against having a transgender male or female use the bathroom that they identify with as stated by Catherine Shoichet in the recent article “North Carolina transgender law: Is it discriminatory?”, These laws are seen as discriminatory towards all transgendered people regardless of race or gender in the LGBT+ community. Activist, Candis Cox a well known transgender woman says “ This law affects us because it puts us in danger, and it's open discrimination.” , to say that she is full of ignorance is to ignore the trouble that she and over a million others are going though. This law is created to demand people to identify as a human that is on paper, a human that is documented, a human who will remain the same in the eyes of a religious filled government. Safety amongst citizens is an issue in the government as well. Most politicians against Transgendered people and rights have one same notion in mind “men should be where men are and women should be where women are.”…

Even recently, in North Carolina, our state government has issued what is basically an anti-trans bill. This bill (House Bill two, often abbreviated to HB2) requires that transgender people, regardless of the surgeries they may or may have had, to use public bathrooms that correspond to the sex on their birth certificate. Many people believe that this was out of fear that a trans women, who they believe is still a man, would try to come into the women’s restroom and harass women or children. The only time I’ve heard of harassment in a public restroom is from cis-gendered people harassing transgender people or people of the same gender…

More likely than not, you haven’t been arrested or even looked at strangely when using public restrooms. But this is the nightmare trans-identified people have to face every single day. Transgender people need justice; we have the ability to take one small step in the right direction to assuring they are on their way to no longer being treated as second-class citizens, and we can take that small step by affirming this bill.
