Transgender individuals often have trouble when it comes to using bathrooms. When a male is transforming to a female does he use the women’s or men’s bathroom, or does he use what’s most comfortable for him? If he uses, what’s most comfortable for him that brings up the question of is that what’s most comfortable for everyone else using the bathroom? “In 2016, at least 15 states have considered “bathroom bills” similar to the legislation recently enacted in North Carolina, which blocks transgender people from using bathrooms that don’t correspond to the sex listed on their birth certificate.” (Young RP 44) That brings up the transgender bathroom controversy.

Recent in the news I have been hearing about the Trans Bathroom Law and it genuinely confuses me as to why it is such an issues. This law affects me and people around me because I am a mostly passing man having to use the Women’s bathroom. I do not understand why forcing a trans person to use the wrong bathroom is more acceptable than having the decency to just let them use the restroom of gender they identify with.…

The author argues that anyone who is not phased by breaking the law, wont stop them from entering a restroom that prohibits them from using either. In addition, the author argues that most people would not even notice a transgender using the public restroom, and if they did notice, they most likely would not confront them to find out if they are the right gender for the specific restroom they are in. While the laws continue to be disrupting the community and rights of women, the community continues to act out by having peaceful protests and marches throughout the world. A peaceful resistance does not negatively impact the society when certain members of that society are enacting in the resistance; but the others that do not participate are, in fact, deeply offended by it. Although in my opinion, it sheds a positive light on what the people have to say.
