Transgender and Psychological/social Gender Identity Essay
People with gender identity disorder should change their sexual identity and live among us as the opposite sex as long as they acknowledge and reveal themselves as “transsexuals”.
Now, let me define what is known as “gender identity disorder”; it is commonly referred to as “transsexualism” which is a condition where a transsexual person self-identifies as a member of the gender opposite to the one assigned to them at birth.
Transsexualism is considered a taboo subject in many parts of theworld. Y, u might ask? Another cause is that this individual feels that he can achieve more and contribute more if he were the opposite sex. He might have low self-esteem. Some women may feel that they are weak in this feminine body they were born with and so they would be more empowered if they were to become a male. Moreover, some men could feel that they are being trapped in their masculine body and seeing as they are more attached to their feminine side rather than their masculine side they would prefer to transform into a woman, a refined and delicate woman.
Biologically speaking, some doctors or some theories would suggest that this gender identity disorder could be caused by chromosomal abnormality as well as imbalances in hormones due to some chemicals: some drugs that are administered to pregnant women may cause transsexual offspring by disrupting the hormone processes. Sometimes, the biochemistry simply fails to work properly; things just go wrong for no reason.
Psychologically speaking, harmful attitude could also be one of the reasons an individual feels the need to change and specifically turn into a transsexual. An abused child, a neglected infant, an isolated and depressed child, lack of affection from the parents towards the child… such behaviors could possibly lead to this so called disorder.
