Transforming The Collaboration Process

Linda Sanders, CTO Manager, provided an introduction and update to the office. CTO, established 9 months, focuses on assisting with activation of clinical trials. This deliverable related to having a collaborative process with Mayo Clinic researchers beginning new clinical trials. The process provided a method to reduce the activation, or start time, of clinical trials. CTO provides study coordination to help with quality management which includes training across the Enterprise.

Ms. Sanders gave examples of clinical trial registry on clinicaltrials.com. She also mentioned examples of involving the Mayo Clinic experts as a starting place to help with trial recruitment.

Transforming the Activation of Clinical Trials (TACT) project helped to reduce the start of clinical trials from 183 days to 65 days on average (Range 15-65). To date the earliest activation is 15 days. There was a question related to the coordination of the activation process and how CTO manages. Ms. Sanders provided information on the CTO TACT process. CTO assigns a team member to new trials and they work directly with the researcher to prepare for trial activation.
