Transformers Movie: Age Of Extinction

Improved Essays
Any movie can be a box office success, but it takes a special movie with special qualities to be a memorable and an entertaining one. The recent Transformers movie: Age of Extinction grossed an exceedingly large amount of money in theaters and was a good source of “eye candy”; however, this movie lacked the standers for a great film. With a predictable plot, meager acting, and poor character development; no parent or grandparent would be drawn to this movie. On the other hand, a movie like Star Wars is more than entertaining and memorable for anyone of any age because its plot is truly unique. A son, born of a Sith Lord, must survive in a galaxy torn apart by a galactic war all while struggling to deal with the temptations of the Dark Side.

Special Effects have been evolving for years it all started in 1895 when Alfred Clarke created what is considered the first-ever special effect. While filming a reenactment of the beheading of Mary, Queen of Scots, Clarke instructed an actor to step up to the block in Mary's costume. As the executioner brought the axe above his head, Clarke stopped the camera, had all the actors freeze, and had the person playing Mary step off the set. He placed a Mary dummy in the actor's place, restarted filming, and allowed the executioner to bring the axe down, severing the dummy's head.…

No offense to film critics, but it doesn 't take a genius to tell a good movie apart from a waste of time you 'll never get back. Motion picture films date back to the late 1800s, each film different from the last. However, that doesn 't mean everything that makes it onto a theatre is worth viewing. There are certain components that make a great film and can be proven true throughout all genres no matter when they premiered. “I don’t know. I’m making this up as I go” said by Indiana Jones, perfectly describes how Steven Spielberg wanted the movie to be charismatic, charming, and funny as he admitted that this was, “the first movie where I actually shot the movie without thinking.” From native tribes and snakes to Nazis, it seems Indiana Jones can’t keep himself out of trouble when it comes to searching for lost treasure. That being said, his adventures are a roller coaster with twists and turns that you would least expect. “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” with George Lucas, the executive producer who birthed “Star Wars”, and Steven Spielberg as the director who made “Jaws”, is an out-of-body experience that requires an immense amount of imagination.…

One of modern society’s favourite pastimes is watching and comparing films. Films have the ability to make us laugh, cry, or even think while touching our hearts no matter what the genre is. Contemporary media genres have dramatically changed since classical literary times, which divided theatrical and literature into groups of drama and comedy, giving birth to genres. Films have become difficult to place into a specific genre, as “any theme may appear in any genre” (Chandler 1997, p. 1) resulting in genres blending continuously. For example, a Science Fiction (Sci-Fi) film is classified in that genre due to its situational context and fundamental plot, though, Sci-Fi films may also be categorised into genres such as horror (Aliens), comedy…
