Do you believe the ‘’American Dream,’’ is still alive and an ideal dream in which most people believe and strive for? The American dream is no longer the same dream it was fifty years ago. The American dream is known to be a hope for a better, richer and happier life for all individuals. However, in my perspective, the American dream is providing an education, jobs to support the basic needs and freedom to all individuals. Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and habits (cite). Education is the key to a successful life. A basic element of the American dream is equal access to education as the lubricant of social and economic mobility (cite). Education opens a door full of opportunities to get creative in life, which is why every individual should be provided with an education. Basic needs are food, water, shelter and clothing. Jobs should be provided to all individuals because without jobs how can we take care of our family and supply food for them to eat and water for them to drink. Shelter is important to provide because it helps keep families safe, but without jobs how do we plan to make that happen. Clothes are definite need for individuals because no job will hire you if you choose not to wear clothing.
