The federal government lets states have the power until it becomes an important step/much needed law that needs to be the same for the entirety of the United States. One power that states have is our education. The federal government realized that it would be best for states to govern this aspect. Because of this, more relevant information about where we live is brought to us. For example, the time that our school starts and ends. Based on farming, students in grade/secondary school would get the summer off to help their family harvest their crops. Now days, it is not like that; it is more of a vacation to help improve the economy with people traveling.
