Transference In Therapy Groups

I have the same opinion regarding transference and how complicated it can be for a group leader. As a group leader you are dealing with a lot of different people and being able to build a positive therapeutic rapport is important. As you stated transference may exist in some form depending on how the relationship was built between the members of the group. You mentioned the therapist/group leader has to have a great deal of self-awareness in how their being observes by the group. Yalom and Leszcz stated "Transference does occur in therapy groups; indeed, it is omnipresent and radically influences the nature of the group discourse. Without an appreciation of transference and its manifestations, the therapist will often not be able to understand
