In their book Paying for the party, Armstrong and Hamilton discusses how universities take class differences and class projects of distinct women to define what will be their college experience. In their book, Armstrong and Hamilton defines class projects as individual and class characteristics that defines a person’s agenda and orientation to school. Hence, people with similar class projects not only shared the same financial, cultural and social capital, but also the same expectations toward school. As a result, Armstrong and Hamilton claims that students with similar class projects end up becoming a collective constituency and a representative group for the university, whom in turn must take their interests to form a college pathway for…

At last, the time has come for the start of what parents have talked about since birth and what teenagers wished would come faster, graduation. However, it’s not just graduating high school it’s a stepping stone towards a life-long career. In addition, the first decision high-school graduates must make is whether or not to go to college. Nevertheless, the cost of attendance, course of study, and location are all important factors in choosing between Northeast Lakeview college and the University of Texas San Antonio. Over time college has gradually became more expensive; paying back student loans can be a burden on students and take them years to pay back the financial aid that was acquired.…

After thinking of a few different individuals I decided to interview Sabrina Tapps-Fee, a Senior Admission Counselor and Coordinator of the Tour Guide program for the University of Iowa. Dear, Point Pleasant Beach High School I would like to thank Beach's program for touring me around the school during the open house and Dr. Grosshandler for taking the time out of his day to discuss my possible future with Point Pleasant Beach and its amazing academic program. Beach has gained a reputation of producing intelligent students and sending them off to college. Being considered for a program with such a productive system brings a monumental amount of joy to me and my family. Today, June 18th, 2017, marks the last day of my first week of college at Paul Quinn College and I am proud to say, “I survived”. Committing to Paul Quinn was a really big decision for me because this school is a 17 hour drive away from my home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. I was afraid that I might get homesick or that I would not have the support of my family because I would be so far away from home. Soon, after visiting the Dallas campus, I realized that Paul Quinn was the school for me. This is the school where I will grow as an individual and I have come to that realization in my first week of college through the many conversations with upperclassmen, faculty, alumni and summer bridge students.…

When I arrived to Ramapo College I realized I was not prepared for college-level work, if it was not for the Educational Opportunity Fund Program I would have felt lost and would have struggled both academically and financially. My mother did not have the opportunity to graduate from high school or earn her GED because she had to work at a young age to help my grandmother in the Dominican Republic. Seeing my mother’s leadership, work ethic, and sacrifices gives me the fuel to one day have a better life by earning my Masters degree and making a difference in my community. Throughout my undergrad career I have had…

I just knew that I wanted to be the first in my family to attend a University and get a degree.…

My decision to apply to Western Washington University comes from my inspiration to achieve what I envision my self-becoming someday. Up to this point in my college education, life has been and up and down ride, definitely not what I had envisioned. But the one thing I’ve always kept true to myself is who I see myself becoming in the future. My senior year of high school was filled with questions of where I saw myself in five or ten years, and I thought I had a perfect idea of what that would be. I made choices I thought would help me achieve those goals I previously had set out.…
