We are in an age where a lot of our food contains sugar and you may not even know about it. This includes sauces and drinks, especially carbonated drinks. People tend to think of sugar only in the form of the white grainy table sugar. There is sugar in a lot of food that we eat. Sugar has got to be reduced if you want to burn belly fat.

[Paramjit] Another evil of the modern world are the trans-fats.
[Suresh] How do you define trans fats?
[Param] Trans-fats are basically hydrogenated fats. These have been altered by a process called hydrogenation. It is a chemical process. When you do that to fat, it gives it longer shelf life. Longer shelf life is one of the main reasons for using trans fats. It is a commercially driven initiative. With that in mind, any food with hydrogenated fat can last longer than food without it. That is not healthy for the body. The body gets confused when you consume trans-fats. It creates havoc in the metabolism.
[Suresh] You want to avoid trans-fats to lose belly fat. Certain cities in the US have banned trans-fats. New York is one of them. I guess the ban is because there is a greater sense of awareness about the adverse effects of trans-fats.
