The theory I chose is Transactional analysis. According to Rogers transactional analysis is based on psychodynamic theory that shows up in early childhood behavior and carries on throughout your life. The reason I chose this theory is because I feel that many people always have relationship where they think they are in adult world and they really aren’t. I believe that every kid or teenager thinks they are adults and know about what’s going on in the world than their parents. This theory will help me understand the relationship between my client’s and the people involved in their lives. Many times kids take on the parent roll with their parents and when the parent is ready to take the parent roll back and can’t because the child is used to

    1. What aspects of behaviorism made it an attraction to critics of psychoanalytic theory? Psychologists believed that the followers of psychoanalytic theory were missing the opportunity to view the whole child and thought psychoanalysts were less than precise in their ideas behind children’s behaviors and their responses. The case study I found the most interesting was “Learning and Developmental Theory: a case study about a 31-year-old African American man named Taron. According to the case study “Taron grew up in a very conservative, professional, and disciplined household for things such as behavior and relationships. However; things that were constructive and positive, the entire family was very supportive and liberal”. Taron was the youngest sibling and the way he grew up, he never really spoke much in his family. He was very obedient to his parents and had his older siblings to look up to.…

Psychoanalytic theory supports the idea that no behavior is accidental. Personality is therefore caused or influenced by past experiences that are stored to later manifest into action and behavior. Viennese neurologist Sigmund Freud formulated a structural theory of behavior via a three tiered system of the Id, the Ego, and the Super Ego. These forces are what shape our personality and influence our decisions, relationships, and experiences, both normal and abnormal. Freud defined identity as always being in conflict with its various parts.…

As a social worker, working with teenagers who are dealing with coming out as a gay or lesbian and utilizing the empowerment theory, which primarily focuses on the oppressed teenager on a one-on-one form of micro level or focal system, does not exclude or count out the larger levels on a macro scale, which can be individuals within a large group of teenagers coming out as a gay or lesbian, their family members within their subsystem and or suprasystems environment. “The empowerment theory does not go to a great extent when it comes to the importance of biological factors in human development, since it is based on structural conditions of oppression, and focusing on the client’s strengths” (Robbins, Chatterjee & Canda, 2012). However, there is a more in-depth insight when it comes to the teenagers who are dealing with coming out as a gay or lesbian when it comes to their psychological, spiritual, family and group dynamic needs. The theory that I think is most important for youth development is the 5th theory( A trauma-sensitive learning environment). It is important because some many times kids need to feel appreciated and cared by adults especially if they don’t get enough attention at home or experienced any kind of abuse. I believe school is a place where kids need to feel safe, appreciated and most importantly love and support because you never know what happen to them when they are in school. The core assumption that is most relevant to my culture is the core number 3(all human beings have a deep desire to be in a good relationship).…
