INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of study
An ultrasound test uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of internal body organs. Imaging tests can identify abnormalities and helps in diagnosing conditions. A Transvaginal sonography/scan (TVS) is a type of pelvic ultrasound used to examine female reproductive organs. This includes the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, and vagina. “Transvaginal” means “through the vagina.” This is an internal (or intracavitary) examination. Unlike a regular transabdominal sonography/scan (TAS or pelvic ultrasound scan), where the ultrasound probe rests on the outside of the pelvis, this procedure involves the Sonographer inserting an ultrasound probe about two or three inches into the vaginal canal. [1]
Ultrasonography is one of the key radiological investigative tools that have positively impacted on the quality of diagnosis and subsequent medical care over the years. Traditionally, ultrasonic imaging of the abdomen and pelvis is performed using the transabdominal transducers. The wide acceptance of this (transabdominal) technique is due to its safety and relative acceptability by the practitioners …show more content…
1.5 Scope of study
This survey covers pregnant women and non-pregnant women in the Lagos mainland area who came for ultrasound examination in which they were consented, and asked to fill a questionnaire where all the necessary questions required for the effectiveness of this survey were
