Blooms Taxonomy Assessment

The progress of learning can be assessed in many different ways, as learning in this course. However, for this paper I am going to focus on the assessment of learning using Bloom’s Taxonomy, which consist of three domains; cognitive, affective and psychomotor. Within each of these domains, a teach and/or learner can assess the learners level of competence. For example, the cognitive phase is broken down into the knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation phases of learning. Within each of these smaller phases, the student possesses different characteristics and abilities. Which is explained in more detail in the following paragraph. During this visit, the physician recommended to begin an exercise regimen to decrease weight and manage blood pressure. At this point, Uncle Bob has been through consciousness raising by the physician’s warnings, and dramatic relief with chest pains. With this, I would believe that Uncle Bob is in the contemplation phase of the Trans Theoretical Model and Stages of Change. As stated, the patient is now aware that his lifestyle is an issue. His physician has informed his that he needs to begin exercising, decreasing his weight and managing his blood pressure. With this, he is now mindful that with exercise, he can address these issues by decreasing his weight and managing his blood pressure. With this, he understands the pros, but is still aware on the cons exercise. These cons include the time commitment and effort involved in a workout routine. And in the end, Uncle Bob is not ready to change. Instead, he is coming to terms with the idea of change and will be ready to change in the next 6 …show more content…
As a future clinician, it is vital that I understand the many different aspects of communication with patients, co-workers and other health professionals. Theses aspects include differences between cultures, genders, personalities and generations. For example, when working with a female co-worker, she will most likely find small details to be important; whereas, a male co-worker will find the big picture to be sufficient. Similarly, an older co-worker may value team work; while a younger co-worker does not find value in team work and prefers to work alone. Therefore, using the concepts of communication and differences among groups, I will be able to define and achieve my success as a physical
