Training Officer: A Necessary Analysis

Decent Essays
Besides being a paramedic provider, during my emergency services career, I have only held the management position of training officer. During that time, anytime I needed training materials, or manikins, they just seemed to appear. I never really thought about where the equipment or materials came from, or how they were obtained. Well, this has definitely opened my eyes. Complaining about equipment, supplies, or ambulances conditions should be done in the appropriate context. However, unless there is a safety issue changes may not be implemented until such time that money allows. And, unless budget managers forecast for these supplies or the budget line items accrued, the time management may be longer than some people feel appropriate.

Most health care organizations may use a combination of different training methods in implementing an information system, such as the computerized physician order entry (CPOE). One of the most popular methods, according to Nicklaus, Kusser, Zessin, and Amaya (2015), is an instructor-led class in a classroom that contains all of the equipment needed to demonstrated essential functionalities, including printers, bar code scanners, identification bands, and medication labels to mention a few. The advantages of instructor-led training are the ability for end-users to ask questions, quick clarification of complex concepts, and easy identification of users who may need additional help. The primary disadvantages are the expense and resources needed…

    Care Manager Role

I work closely with my Care Manager and Register Manager to ensure anything that is found to be a hazard or a concern is recorded and reported immediately, lessening the chance of any harm coming to another individual, as it is then acted upon immediately. Our policies and procedures clearly state what to do, should you find an issue but continuing mandatory training for all employees, is periodically carried out. One example of good practice was a service user using a stand aid to assist with moving and handling, it became apparent to me that the service user was not weight bearing. I asked my Registered Manager to observe the technique being used, who fully agreed, therefore from that moment on the service user would use a full hoist, with appropriate slings both for transfer and toileting. I have undertaken the role of ensuring the home has an adequate supply of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required to fulfill their role safely, limiting the risk of the spread of infection.…

My life experiences and sociological training shaped my mission as a scholar and as a mentor at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) and the University of California, Irvine (UCI). At UCSB and UCI, I research the power and politics of marginalized people. In particular, I focus my research on social mobilization, economic and political development, and the state. My sociological training forged my theoretical and methodological approaches to understand how economic and social globalization affects the precarious relationship between marginalized groups and governments in developing countries. Specifically, I examine the intersection between democratic reform (i.e., electoral reform, human rights legislation, constitutionalism)…
