• Through FIMRC last year I volunteered every Sunday at the Daily Bread and Soup Kitchen in Champaign. Now I did learn discipline and leadership skills, but I gained the most socially. After we were done serving food and cleaning up, we often sat down and talked with everyone that came out that day. This gave me some really intense insight into what people have to do deal with every day and little things like someone just talking to you with respect can change the entire outlook of life.

• I have also been volunteering through FIMRC at the Swann Center in Champaign. Here I developed skills when dealing with patients with various levels of mental retardation.

Describe your long-term career goals
• I fully intend on going to medical school and receiving a doctorate in medicine. It’s hard to say where my passion lies specifically in the medical field at the moment. I am very interested in working with patients and developing realistic solutions to problems that can come up through a research lab.
I had the best imaginary friend anyone could ask for. This single person has made an enormous impact in my life. Ever since I was young, he has been the person who never stopped watching, or talking, guiding me through all of life’s problems and difficult decisions. Slowly, we grew into each other. He was my ideal-self and each year we became ever more similar. We often talked about how we wanted to become educated, successful and most importantly happy in life, never letting adults get in our way. These conversations are now used for motivation in everything I do, whether it’s my grades or playing on the soccer field; they’re always in my mind. Recently looking back to these conversations have been very valuable with the amount of choices presented to me in this time in my life. During the winter of 2013 I was fortunate enough to start work as a valet driver for V.I.P. Valet, one of the top valet companies in Chicago. After a year of working million dollar weddings and presidential fundraising dinners in the summer and various school breaks, I was given my own account. I was put in charge at various locations such as the McDonald’s headquarters in Oak Brooke, the Q-Center in St. Charles and Morgan Manufacturing venue in Chicago. Here I would be required to meet with the event organizer before and after each event, check in and manage each employee, submit payroll and eventually close with my boss back at the office. Now as a full time student, I have been given the privilege of determining my own schedule during the summer and winter
