Train Cats Research Paper

We are going to train cats to do as commanded. We are going to train them to do tricks and simple commands such as, beg, come on command, shake, toilet training, walk on a leash, and to not claw the furniture or people. We will also train them to behave well and be vigilant to what we say. Make sure you keep your cat well active and feed them healthy food so your cat doesn’t get lethargic. One thing to remember is to never discipline your cat. It induces stress and leads to health issues. Patience and positive reinforcement are essential to a happy and healthy cat. Another thing to not do is declaw them. It hurts them and doesn’t let them defend themselves in emergency situations. Training your cats helps grow a stronger and better bond. Training takes time and patience, so don’t get upset if your cat doesn’t catch on right away.

It also helps them stretch, mark, and maintain claw health. Never declaw a cat. Declawing a cat is painful. For example, imagine getting your fingernails pulled off. It will also not let them catch and kill rodents that get in the house, and it will not let them stand up for themselves in an emergency. Try to get scratching posts for your cat. After you get a scratching post try putting it in places that your cat usually hangs out. When you see your cat investigating the past, let the cat have quiet praise and a cat treat if he/she likes it. To make the cat not want to scratch the couch you can also tuck a sheet around where the cat usually scratches. You can also find ways to get the cat to like the post by using a wand toy. You can play with the wand toy a couple feet away from the scratching post. Once the cat is very playful, sweep the wand towards the post and wave it about the post. The cat will jump to it and realize that is is good to

In Western culture, very few, if any at all, cats are used in a utilitarian sense; we no longer need to keep them around to kill rodents and protect our food supplies. The modern Western feline has essentially no economic value whatsoever; the way we are using the word domestication has shifted from perpetuating the utilitarian idea of a symbiotic relationship between animal and human to a relationship where, in a utilitarian sense, nothing is gained. In Western society today, domesticated cats are bred with the sole purpose to “exaggerate, diminish, or shape a variety of other characteristics, such as temperament, body shape, fattiness, the possession of horns, muscling, the presence or absence of body hair, and fur and eye color” (Palmer…

As reported by Ecology.com “Cats are responsible for the deaths of between 1.4 and 3.7 billion birds and 6.9-20.7 billion mammals annually... they have been blamed for the global extinction of 33 species.” Just to put it in perspective if we humans would be small rodents and or birds then feral cats would eat us 3.25 times over. Another factor that make feral cats and environmental nightmare is as the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife reports “Unlike some predators, a cat 's desire to hunt is not suppressed by adequate supplemental food. Even when fed regularly by people, a cat 's motivation to hunt remains strong, so it continues hunting,” just like the species that domesticated it they like to hunt for sport. This is a big issue because cats eating this much and hunting for sport really destabilizes whole ecosystems.…

This way the kittens will gain experience before they even go out and do it on their own from watching how the mother does it. Some kittens will learn all this by themselves as an instinctive behaviour or justby watching other cats (Case L, 2003). Other ways for the kitten/cat to practice is having toys, especially squeaky mice this them gives them opportunities to practice inside the home if cat is an indoor cat because being indoors all the time gives them no real experience of what they would do natively outdoors (Perfect Paws Publishing,…

For my clicker training project I used my friends cat Reggie, who is a 4 year old Domestic Short Hair, neutered male. Throughout the training, I didn't do a lot of sessions outside for new learning techniques due to the fact that Reggie tends to get distracted especially from other people and animals. It also seemed that smaller, quieter places, like inside the barn, allowed Reggie to focus easier on my cues. Food as well as praise tends to be a huge motivator for Reggie so changing his rewards sometimes allowed him to stay focused on the task at hand. The issue with this was that some weeks he would be doing really well learning the commands and techniques but the next week he refused to learn or do anything.…

These tiny bundles of soft, fuzzy, pointy, excitable joy are so inexpressibly wonderful, it almost hurts. ...Hold on... let me just take a breath here!
