The sun light shown through the leaves of the forest onto the trail, the dirt on the forest floor was damp from the last days rain, roots of the trees raised from the grown like long bony fingers, the bushes that lined the trail were bright green, filled with green insects and thornes. The bamboo was closely packed together making it hard to get through. After sliding in the mud and struggling to get the bikes through the stalks, we had reached the trail. We had come to a part where the trail split into two directions, the one closer to the river was the one we chose, that one …show more content…

We could always wait until sunrise,” Dominic insisted. He was struggling to zip up his jacket, which was restricted by the heavy coat that he was also wearing. By the time they got done complaining, the rest of us had already left the cabin. We had already discussed this trip the day before: If you change your mind, you better say so early on, because the trail was a long way away from the cabin. While we were walking on the paved road leading up to the trail, it finally dawned on me:…

The air was crisp; dew dripped off of the freshly mowed lawn. A slight breeze swung me softly side to side. There I was, on the ragged concrete steps, leaning morosely aside the brick pillar. It was a beautiful day, but the atmosphere surrounding me was miserable. Impatiently tapping my foot, I looked up and down the street to see if my friends were near.…

To begin we did a survey across the land towards the entrance to the trails. We all stood side by side, arm’s length apart, and slowly walked the ground looking for anything that stood out. I saw normal things for the area, jagged rocks, pointed sticks, I also saw white wood, perhaps this had been burned or broken off a tree too early.…

The trip has finally come as the green prairie grass is shooting up from the warmed soil. We set off as soon as the grass was a good height, but were delayed when a screw came loose after a bump in the trail. A little while later and we were back on the trail going at a steady pace. Hope and little John rode on Silver for the most part, but Grace stepped on a fallen branch wrong and hurt her ankle so she replaced John on Silver. The farther we went along the more crowded it became before we had to slow down to a crawl.…

The Roar of the Water It was a cold and foggy morning; Dylan was awakened by the beam of the sun in the distance, peaking over the canyons across the river. The ray of light from the flashlight casts a luminescent glow on the ground, allowing us to keep a watchful eye on where we are stepping. As we walk, I feel the crunch of breaking thin ice, and the stickiness of the mud under my feet. I smell the crisp, clean aroma of the morning air. We weave our way through the woods trying to avoid puddles of unfrozen water, and logs that are in the way of the trails we have made. Finally, I spot the…
