Tragic Love In real life your actions affect others as much as they affect you, and this relates to the stories Romeo and Juliet, and West Side Story in the way that death was brought because of feuds and people telling you who you can and can’t love, which in the real world it happens all the time. In Romeo and Juliet, the story starts off with two families with an ancient grudge, the Montagues, and the Capulets. Romeo, a montague, falls instantly and madly in love with a girl, Juliet a capulet, as romeo said “Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight! For i ne’er saw true beauty till this night” (Shakespeare, Act 1 Scene 5 lines 50-51) just showing how dramatically they made their love. But, other than themselves, others played roles helping them lead to their deaths and a big one in Romeo and Juliet is Tybalt. Tybalt enrages Romeo resulting in Romeo killing Tybalt and ending in Romeo

In West Side Story Bernardo's death enrages Chino so much that he is out for Tony’s blood, because like Romeo, Tony is the killer of a relative of the one he loves. While Tony’s “boys” were hiding him Anita, Bernardo’s wife, goes looking for him to give him a message from Maria, his love, about when and where she was going to meet him but when she was going to tell him Anita started to get messed with physically by Tony’s ‘boys’. Anita ends up saying “ Don’t you touch me! I got a message for your American Buddy. You Tell that murderer that Maria’s never going to meet him. You tell him Chino found out about them and shot her. She’s dead.” (Laurents) This results in Tony looking for Chino asking him to kill him because he supposedly took the love of his life, but when Tony discovers Maria is alive he gets shot by Chino. None of the death would have happened if Bernado wouldn’t have killed Riff resulting in Tony avenging his best friend's
