The tragic hero; a person everyone has always dreamt of being at least once in their life. A tragic hero is a character who has made a judgment error that leads to their own destruction. The idea of this archetype came from Joseph Campbell’s idea of the monomyth cycle. The monomyth cycle is a twelve step approach to the archetype commonly referred to as the “hero’s journey”. Each step is split into the three basic ideas; the departure, initiation, and return (Campbell, 30).…

Sitting at my desk, I stared down at my schoolwork while my mind remained static. Suddenly, I found myself beginning to radiate golden light as my body faded from existence; then before I knew it, I rematerialized out of thin air. This does not happen often, so I was rather confused as I stood atop a cloud, high up in the sky. That is, until I noticed a large, human-like figure appear before me in a holy light. He raised his hands and smiled down at me before bellowing out, “Behold, for it is I; Gabe Newell!”…

He flexes his muscles and smiles at himself and pays no mind to the women (Harron 2000). His narcissism is apparent in all of his dealings with other people. He has no regard for others’ emotions, all he cares about is himself. When he is at the dry cleaners, trying to get the “cranapple” washed out of his sheets, he and the store owner are yelling at one another…

And I get confused fast to because I space off to much and then I get lost and don't know what to to do no more. Patrick is the film adaptation of Shakespeare's character Petruccio of Taming of the Shrew. It must be mentioned, that The Taming of the Shrew was written in the Elizabethan Era in England at a time when men were considered to be superior to women. Consequently characters in plays at that time reflected this idea. Thus it can be said that their are similarities between both characters such as the fact that like Petruccio, Patrick has a mysterious and somewhat mythic background; he is rumored to have eaten a live duck and to have spent the last year in prison. Furthermore both characters make their intentions very clear from the start about marrying/dating Kate and this characteristic of self confidence and straightforwardness is carried on…
