Trafficking affects all ages, genders, and ethnicities. Factors such as political instability, poverty, lack of education, homelessness, and lack of employment contribute to the recruitment of victims. In some families, women are viewed as burdens and they are pressure into the sex industry in order to provide support for the family. Recruiters prey on these individuals by placing ads the local newspaper and online. The ads speak of better job opportunities abroad such as modeling, dancing, and acting. The deceptive ads trick the victims into thinking that there are opportunities to make more money in order and have a better life. The recruiters offer to pay for travel documents and identification for those who aren’t in possession of them.
