Management Theories Still Relevant To The Contemporary Entertainment Industry

Management theorist have been prevalent since the early 1700s, they have developed numerous managerial practices which has ensured organisations and companies are able to function efficiently and effectively. These practices have altered management theories throughout time ensuring they are capable of moving into the 21st century. The purpose of this essay is to explore different management theories in order to identify whether they are still relevant to contemporary entertainment business practice in todays society. Though each theory being discussed have adapted to the new age of the entertainment industry, the goal is to find out which one is most relevant today, if any. With the constant change of technology it has opened the lines of communication. Which remains a vital part throughout all three theories discussed. Furthermore the underlining questions as to whether Traditional management theories are relevant to the contemporary entertainment industry in todays society the conclusion would be simply, yes. With a few of the basic fundamentals from each management theory it is easy to understand why these theories are still relevant and are used today throughout many business models. The administrative management theory ensures planning and organisation managerial processes are followed, which is a key aspect in today entertainment industry. The human relations management approach ensures all staff members are about to work in a team and communicate effectively to ensure high proficiency within a working environment; and the contingency management theory relates to understanding not one size fits all approach when it comes to the running of an organisation. With simply touching on a few key factors from each theory, it is evident that all three theories are very much still revenant in the entertainment
