Traditional reactive crime control is not effective in a world driven by science, money and evidence. Instead of waiting for the crime to happen, we must stop children from developing a life of crime. In addition, the traditional system continues to repress minorities who would have otherwise been victims of crime is they were not in custody. It is important to note, that it is not only prevention advocates that have raised the idea to move towards evidence-based practices rather it was also raised by Drummond when hired in 2011. The Canadian Municipal Networks on Crime Prevention suggest that there should be services for youth at all levels of interaction whether it may be in family and early childhood services, in health care services or in schools. In addition, the criminal justice sector must also have a role in preventing crime and the effects of risks. It is all about finding and investing in effective programs that have utilized longitudinal studies that point out prominent risk factors and use random control trials and other alternatives to prove its effectiveness. In Canada, since most crime is concentrated in disadvantaged neighborhoods it would be key to target risks at all levels from the individual, familial and environmental
