By comparing the differences between learning in a traditional classroom versus learning in an online setting, one can determine which learning environment fits their individual learning style. I believe that the biggest difference between learning in a traditional classroom versus learning in an online setting is the physical presence a traditional classroom offers. The physical presence can mean the physical presence of a professor or the physical presence of peers/fellow students. Some students learn best by having the physical presence of a professor sitting next to them and helping them learn or understand something. By having the physical presence of a fellow student, you can lean over and ask follow up questions that you …show more content…
One specific skill the I bring to the program that will help on my academic journey is time management. Time Management is a very important skill to have when learning online. I preplan what my week looks like in terms of my life in general and then look at my schoolwork deadlines. By doing this, I am able to plan out when I complete my Read, Attend, Discuss, and Complete sections of my work throughout the week. By planning to complete my work early, this allows for unforeseen roadblocks to removed and worked around to accomplish my work. One skill that I need to develop is eliminating distractions. One negative aspect to online learning is distractions. Distractions can be anything from family in the same room as you when completing your schoolwork, your TV, or even your cell phone. For me, my distractions are all of the above. One thing that I have practiced doing is turning my phone on silent. By turning my phone on silent, I am able to focus on the computer right in front of me versus looking at my phone every time it buzzes. Also, I am practicing completing schoolwork in another room with the door shut to avoid any family member distractions. I believe that both of these skills could still use some developing, but are both assets that help my online …show more content…
I do not believe that one is more effective than the other, but do believe that it depends on the individual person 's learning style. When it comes to completing tasks at my job, I believe that I am more effective and work harder when I am multi-tasking. When I am studying and completing schoolwork, I believe that I am more effective when I am focused on one thing at a time. By multi-tasking, one may be able to accomplish more in less time. By focusing on one thing at a time, one may be able to learn more and soak in the information that the individual is learning. Ultimately, it comes down to the individual student and what works best for them. What works for me might not work for you and vice versa. For me to be able to benefit from learning, I must be prepared and organized. I am the type of learner that has to plan out my schoolwork into sections so I can retain the information I am learning. I make a list of what needs to be accomplished that week and then I go through each task at a time. As I complete a section of the schoolwork or task, I check it off my list. This allows me to concentrate on one thing at a time, but is more beneficial to me actually learning the material. Overall, my stance on the topic is that each student is

According to The Vark learning styles questionnaire the two learning styles that I learn best with best are aural and kinesthetic. Aural means I learn best when hearing the information spoken and by asking questions about the concept I am learning. The other way I learn best is being kinesthetic which means I use my five senses and hands on experiences to help me learn. The Aural side of me likes to remember stories, examples, and jokes, to be to relate them to the concept I am learning. I have found that I when attended class and really focus on what the instructor or professor is teaching I am able to grasp the concept that is being taught.…

I believe everyone learns in different ways through different learning styles and techniques. Each individual has a different mix of learning styles, for instance some may be more dominate than others, therefore there maybe little to no use of the others. Some individuals may have different styles of strength in different circumstances such as creative, theory and practical modes of learning. In my tutorial we completed a multiple intelligence test in order to determine our strongest learning styles. The multiple intelligence test I completed has allowed me to identify that my two strongest area’s of intelligence are Interpersonal (my self smart) and visual also referred to as spatial (picture smart).…
