Traditional Classes Vs Online Classes

Taking an online class as opposed to an in person face to face class may seem like the easy way to go. However, is taking an online class hurting you or helping you in the long run? According to a survey done by Allen and Seamen, nationwide online enrollment rates are expanding at a much faster rate than traditional classroom enrollment growth. Online enrollments have grown. 32% of college students are taking online classes. Whereas traditional enrollments have not gone up much. The similarities and differences when it comes to taking a class online or in person face to face are class participation, attendance, and time management. You have no set time for your appearance, as opposed to traditional classes. This means you won't get counted absent if you don't do the classroom work at a certain time each day. Also, you can do your work on the go. This is the reason why many students choose online classes over traditional. Doing class work at home online gives some students who struggle a sigh of relief knowing that they don't have to appear in person. The last point to be made about online classes is time management. You have to make time for your online class and put it at the top of your priorities. Make sure to be responsible, set a time each day to put everything else that is going on in your life aside, and devote a few hours out of your day to classwork. In addition to the classwork, homework is an essential component to pass a class. The downside to homework online is that you won't get the feedback as you would by handing in your homework in person to your professor. Class participation may seem like it's impossible while taking an online class, but just like a traditional class, you are trying to participate to earn college credit hours. Also, you have to make the choice to sign up for classes, whichever one you choose is up to you, but they both show your effort to want to succeed. You are trying to earn a degree, and any student who is taking it upon themselves to earn it is on the right path. The similarities concerning attendance are very easy to identify. You have to take the class no matter what. Which includes having to show up to do the work every single day. Turning in assignments for online or traditional both result in getting graded, but keep in mind that late assignments will get counted off too.
