Tractor Supply: A Short Story

Walking through the doors of Tractor Supply, the smell of sawdust and the sound of peeping overwhelm me. Running to the back of the store I see adorable, fluffy baby chicks and am completely in love. I went off to try and find my parents, who were off looking around the store, to ask them if we could get them.
After searching for what felt like forever, i finally found my dad and I started begging him for the chicks, like he always does, he asked, “What does your mom say?”
“I don’t know, I’ll go find her.” I replied.
On my way to find my mom and my sister, Shelby, who were getting cat food, I went back to see the chicks. They were all still there, filled with new motivation, I started off again and found my mom talking with some lady from

After checking out, in the car on the way home my dad asked me “Now where are we going to keep these monsters?” “In your room” I said jokingly. “No, we’ll keep them in the basement until we build a coop.” My mom said. “And it’s coming out of your wallet too.” She added with a wink.
“And when are we going to have time to build this coop?” My dad asked.
“We’ll do it tomorrow, after school.” I said.
“Won’t you be at a friend’s house” My mom stated.
“Yeah that’s why we’ll start tomorrow.”
When we got home, Shelby and I had to clean out the box in a wooden box in our basement and fill it with sawdust. After that we had to set up a heat lamp a certain amount away from the ground. We laid them in the bin when it was warm enough.
When that was all done, my dad drove us up to Menards in the rusty old truck. Driving past the worker manning the lumber station we grabbed twelve, two by four by eights’, two, four by four by eights, and some pink installation with pink panther on the side.
