Tracking My Physical Activity

Decent Essays
Tracking my physical activity this semester has impacted how I look at physical activity. Before this class I never planned my workouts I just worked out. During this process of tracking my physical activity I have learned to be detail oriented when planning my workout session. I also learned that being detail oriented helps me understand what I’m capable of doing physically and what I can work on.
The data helped me understand how I progressed during the process of tracking. I noticed that as the weeks went by my physical activity level increased. I also realized that the data helped me to see what types of physical activity I was performing.
My physical activity habit compared to the beginning of the semester changed dramatically. Recently

Keeping track of the information throughout the 8-week long process was the most difficult part of the behavior change project. Throughout this process, I began to keep track of the amount of exercise I participated in each week, but then I became interested in comparing my weekly Fitbit data. After finding this information to be intriguing, I then began to compare my sleeping schedules over the weeks. Henceforth, I noticed a relationship between which days I exercise to the amount of sleep I acquired the night before. Overall, keeping track of the amount of exercise I completed on the treadmill was harder to me than actually completing the…

I wake up at 6 in the morning, walk by my kitchen refusing to eat breakfast at 6:10, and pack my duffle bag by 6:35. After brushing my teeth at 6:50, I leave for school at 7 with my brother and my father. Classes begin at 7:35am and end at 2:12pm. Standing in the locker room changing my clothes and lacing up my shoes by 2:25, I remind myself why I put myself through this ritual every single day. Fitness and Goal Setting Knowledge Fitness and goal setting have been the main topic of conversation in this class. Whether we need to work on legs or arms today, or what we are going to do in the future. I learned that it is better to do quantity over quality when it comes to fitness workouts, and that it is always important to stretch and warm up your muscles before a workout to ensure you do not strain any muscles. For goal setting, I learned that if you pick a specific goal that you wish to achieve, like say to reach +10 in the fitness flexibility test, you can keep working towards that goal step by step, or in this case number by number, to reach your goals efficiently. When reaching towards a goal, you cannot just make it in one try…

“Assessment of Physical Activity Levels of 3rd and 4th Grade Children Using Pedometers during Physical Education Class” 1. This research study was also found on the ERIC database. After reading and analyzing two studies that discussed strategies on encouraging physical activity and/or education in the schools, the importance of who is teaching the class, and then also the support the school gets for physical activity, I found this study interesting since it dealt with the actual physical education class and what the children were actually getting out of the class. A school may have physical education classes but if the students are not benefitting from the thirty to forty-five minutes spent in the class, then it does them no good. I searched…

I am a pretty active person in my everyday life and I do walk on my treadmill every morning, but I really want to get my heart rate up and burn some calories.
