I was last leg and everyone was always looking forward to seeing my performance. My relay team always won because I was the one who brought in the gold. Those years are now a memory. When my senior year of high school started, things started to get bumpy; I rarely attended practice, I ate poorly and anxiety was always kicking in.
Track season was important to me. When my senior year began, my focus was on graduating. I barely went to practice because I was always studying. Things were getting hectic and I had to balance two

Three years ago, as a freshman, I decided to join cross country. This decision has shaped my high school career through the friends I chose to the activities I participated in. Cross country is not an easy sport, though. It requires physical endurance, but more importantly, the mental strength to push past and overcome the obstacle of pain. The thing about running is that you hate it until it’s over, at least for me that’s true. Personally, I like running, and it gives me a chance to get out and work towards something. All throughout high school, I’ve run track, and for two years I ran cross-country, both are great sports. The two years I ran cross-country made me wish I ran all four years. Before Brayden arrived to pick me up, I worked both of the horses for a hour each. Afterwards, I bushed them and turned them out to the field for the day. They deserved a day off relaxing and grazing under the sun. Before turning them loose to their own devices, I spray them down with fly spray on and slip their fly masks on. Both horses trot around the field before settling down to graze.…

With my senior track year coming up, my dad suggested I switch to mid distance races to catch coach's eyes. With my endurance from running long distance for so long, and my speed from all the previous sports I played, mid- distance fit me perfectly, and I soon started to gain colleges attentions with my races. Going to State for cross country is one of my favorite things that I have done in my athletic high school career. It took hard work to get there and when we finally did that it was eventful and fun and was one of the best trips that I have ever had. It started out way back in June when a group of girls got together and went for a run. At that time we only ran about 3-4 miles or so, but by the middle of the cross country season we were running up to 6 miles everyday. We trained all throughout the summer increasing our mileage every week so that by the beginning of the season were were ready to race.…
