I was at my way to my track meet. It was at Dansville high school and it was a warm day with scattered clouds and a light breeze. I was getting off the bus and I felt really good not to sore from the last track meet. I walked to the Pole Vault mat and waited for Jarin and Philip to get here so we can count are steps.
“Hey Philip,” I said. “Don't you have a two mile to run?”
“Yeah,” he said. “ I'm just getting a few run throughs and then I will go.”
“Ok,” I said. I just don't want coach make you run the two mile.”
“Good luck,” Jarin said. “Have fun running.” “ I would never run a two mile, ever!”

I set up, took a deep breath that felt like a knife was in my lungs. So I tried to hold off as long as I could and I went. I was up and it felt like time had stopped for a lifetime then it went black and all I remember is me getting off the mat and looking up at the giant I had just overcame. I went nuts, I was running like a madman. Screaming that I did it. I still had a chance to get a higher height.when I tried eight foot I didn't get it. Then Philip had to go. He was the rookie of the bunch and he missed all of the attempts and I remember the feeling of them when they didn't get it.
“Hey guys,” I said. “ Sometimes you have to fail to get better.” “There is also always more meets to improve by.” “plus you still have next year.”
“That's if we do it next year.” They said with a smile.
After the track meet we got on the bus and I texted my parents and told them that I got my personal record. The bus ride was so much fun because we did really good at the meet as a whole group. Five minutes on the bus everybody starts singing. I'm not sure why but I just went with it and it was really fun. Then after awhile people just started to fall asleep until we got back to the school and we all went home. My record is second in the school for pole vault with seven foot

Chapter One Zaphkiel sat on the green grass that was beginning to turn yellow, contently watching the pink and orange sky. Red and orange leaves fluttered to life in the gust of wind. Some of them broke free from their branches to dance in the breeze.…

It was beginning to get dark on a Thursday night in the middle of November of my freshman year in high school. As we were beginning to conclude practice, Coach King called us into a huddle to discuss with us the game plan for our next game against Calvary Christian School. As coach was addressing all of the tasks that needed to be done before the game the next day, I was overwhelmed with a certain nervousness that sent chill through my body. Earlier in the week, our starting quarterback was injured and I was given the starting job. At the time that I was first told that I would be the starting quarterback for the coming week’s semifinal game, I did not experience any nervous feeling.…
