Toy Store Evaluation Paper

For the toy store evaluation I picked the local Muncie Target. Target is a superstore that is separated into different department areas ranging from clothing, electronics, baby items children’s items, home décor, toys, seasonal items, a small grocery section, and everyday essentials. When you first walk into Target the first thing you see is the dollar section. The toys section is located directly behind the home décor aisle. The toy department is made up of 9 aisles and each aisle is made up of 2 walls. Each wall contains various toys pertaining to that section. The diagram above has the aisles separated into colors to help with identifying the 9 different aisles. The first aisle is the orange section. This aisle is comprised of toddler and preschool toys. The toy does limit creativity slightly because there is a goal in mind of what the child will create; a sweet.. By using the variety of utensils and colors provided in the package though no two creations may be the same. The box simply models some possible ideas that users can create while using the product. The product is for the user’s enjoyment with no real specific “sweet” outcome in mind. The child is able to create their own Play-Doh sweet. Brain Development: The toy promotes brain development in decision making skills, when deciding what type of creation to make, problem solving /trial and error skills, if the colors become mixed together or if the product wasn’t quite what the user was going for. This toy can also promote language development as the child creates, plays, and explores with the Play-Doh with a fellow child. This toy can also promote critical thinking skills as children learn to creatively express themself.
