The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark” Meets “The Lion King” Two Stories of Revenge To take a classic Shakespearian tragedy and turn it into a children's film seems almost beyond comprehension, however I intend to show how just that was accomplished with “The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark” by William Shakespeare and “The Lion King” a movie produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. These media, classic play and animated children's film, are not as far separated as many may think. Each starts with a story they wish to tell. Each needs to make that story interesting to their targeted audience and each strives to make the point of their story comprehensible enough that their audience…

Computer animation has always faced the challenge of recreating reality. The hypothesis of the uncanny valley is the hypothesis that the more human-like something is the more its subtle imperfections make people feel uneasy (Willie Bouwer et al. 186). Humans know what humans are supposed to be like and when the recreation does not meet their expectation the person rejects it and may even be revolted by it. The driving force behind Pixar is not creating realistic worlds but exploring new worlds through believable characters and stories. Pixar is aware of the limitations of technology but they constantly try to push beyond it.…

If Woody and Buzz do not get back with Andy before the time of their move in two days, then they will be forgotten, and lost toys and Woody is aware of this while yelling at Buzz about it. Some of the toys have personal concerns like Bo Peep for instance she is worried about her and Woody’s relationship and how that is going lately while Rex is worried about his roar that is isn’t’ loud and scary enough. Another theme in this movie along with friendship is threat the way that is shown in the film by how the toys react to Andy getting new toys the toys don’t want to get replaced just look at the conflict Woody has gotten himself into with Buzz because he was threatened by Buzz because he thinks that he is Woody’s replacement toy. This is also shown by how the toys react when Woody gets Buzz to fall out of the window the other toys accuse him of being a murderer only to protect themselves because the threat is how they base their actions on like picking moving buddies, sending the toy army men soldiers down to spy on the presents that Andy gets all because of the threat of being replaced. One thing that the toys are missing is the security of Andy they forget or pretty much neglect that Andy’s security is the love for all of his toys and he would never replace…

The poor in American Society are the victims of the social theory referred to as CONFLICT THEORY. The theory explains that the social STRATIFICTION SYSTEM is not functioning properly and the rich benefit more from the governmental decisions at the expense of the disadvantaged, those who rightly need the assistance. This theory is shockingly apparent in the Frontline documentary “Poor Kids”. This film follows the lives of three families’ struggling to deal with life’s most crippling situations the best way they can. The film demonstrates that being poor is not always a question of a PERSONAL PROBLEM related to the ABUSE of drugs or alcohol, but of a SOCIAL PROBLEM with unemployment, lack of job opportunities, and in this particular film, recession.…

Nowadays, Disney movies are a hit or miss: it is hard to live up to the motto “a film the entire family can enjoy” with every movie. Yet, Disney made an animated masterpiece when it created a utopia for zoo animals. Zootopia is caked with humor, layers of character development, a deep understanding of how stereotypes and racism affect society as the icing on top with bits of symbolisms being the cake topper. With these features and themes, Zootopia is Disney’s latest movie to engross more than its intended children audience. First and foremost, Zootopia’s humor can be appreciated by the entire family.…

In society today, several movies have a certain description of how men and women should portray themselves, as well as what roles each one of them is supposed to fill within society. Ladies are seen as the caregivers of the children and dependent on the male figures in their life, but the males are seen as in control and the protector of the family. I have chosen to do a rhetorical analysis on the movie, “The Pacifier”, from a female point of view. This movie was published by Walt Disney and is directed toward the younger population ranging from age nine to sixteen. The message that was illustrated in this movie encountered the status quote of society, as to what events and behaviors are intended to be done by males, and what is to be intended to be done…

In the past, Lotso was a nice toy, until his first owner abandoned them at a park by accident. This created a lot of hate inside him, and led him to become what he is, Lotso the Dictator. The film Babies, that we watched in class, was a very interesting and a great example of how cultures differ in communication. It was amusing to watch the cultures that majorly differed from my own. The most surprising part of this film was the way parents raised children in Mongolian culture and Namibian culture. When going in to the film, I expected exactly what the movie was about, which was exploring very interesting cultures and the different ways of raising children within them.…

Monsters, Inc. takes place in a fictional, monster world where electricity is created by collecting the screams of human children. Mike and Sulley, two monster friends who work for a large power company, meet a human child (later named “Boo”) and spend the remainder of the film trying to get her out of their monster world and back to her human one. Although this film aims to entertain children, it also comments on the use of scare tactics in parenting, as seen in Sulley and Boo’s parent-child relationship which is put at risk when Sulley scares Boo in the second act of the film. Because Boo is too young to speak, the film links its lighting, camera angles, and framing to Boo’s emotions in order to communicate how she is feeling toward Sulley.…
