but international terrorism has been on the rise since the 1960’s. Terrorism is very serious since many terrorists refer to materials of mass destruction. According to the US Department of State, “There are many external influences on the tourism industry and also on the flow of tourists. Many have a significant impact. Many countries are tarnished and tourism suffers. Terrorism tarnishes the destination’s positive image” (Baker, 2014, p. 59). According to the “Effects of Terrorism on the Travel and Tourism Industry”, there are seven types of risks. Financial, social, physcological, physical, functional, situational, and travel are the seven risks identified. One example of a recent attack is Paris. Paris has suffered numerous attacks. According to the Daily Caller, Reuters and MKG Group, a hospitality research firm, found Paris has seen a drop of 10% in hotel occupancy. France’s wealthiest region is Paris.
