Toula Movie Analysis

At the beginning of the movie,Toula is wishing for a different life.As she was growing up toula felt like she wasnt good enough.While her sister and cousins married greek men,Toula was stuck working at the family resturant.She wants to break out monotony of her ever repeating daily chores.So she goes to her father and tells him she would like to go to college to learn more about computers.Gus doesn´t want to hear that because he thinks she trying to leave the family.The rules are that Greek women marry Greek Men. Greek women should never strive for anything else. Ian proposes to her, and Toula accepts. Gus is hurt and mad, feeling that his daughter has betrayed him. Ian, wanting to be with Toula, agrees to be baptized in the Greek Orthodox Church, an act which earns Gus's grudging respect and the acceptance of the rest of the family.So to break the ice Toula invites Ian parents over for a quite dinner with her family,but what she doesnt know is that her mother has invited the whole family.The family ended up getting his parents drunk.(That’s a greek tradition) Ian and Toula begin the wedding planning but her family has already done most of the planning.As the big day comes Toula wakes up to a circus downstairs.Everyone is trying to do something on the bride until her mother comes up to talk to her about the “honeymoon phase”.Ian and Toula goes through the wedding and Toula father ends up buying them a house right beside his.A couple years later Toula has a daughter and is starting her first day at greek
