Tough And Sorrow In Ponyboy's The Outsiders

In The Outsiders, Ponyboy talks about things in his neighborhood that are tough, and he compares them to things that are “tuff”. Tough means things that are rough and strong, and not easily intimidated. Tuff means things that are popular and well admired by society. Tough was meant to describe things that are strong, rough, and not easily broken. Tuff described things that others thought were interesting. I will compare things in my mind that I feel are tuff and tough. When I think of the word tough, I think of things that can not be broken down, and that would not back down from something that might cause harm. I chose a rock as my first example of something that is tough. To me, a rock represents something that can not be broken that easy. If you throw around a rock, it won’t easily get broken. One thing I feel is tuff is the Lamborghini car. It is sleek, fast, and expensive. That means if you have one people admire you for having a fast car that costs a lot of money. Another tuff thing I like are Air Jordan basketball shoes. These shoes are named after a famous basketball star named Michael Jordan. These shoes are popular because the are cool looking, which makes them tuff. With many boys I know that like basketball, Russell Westbrook is also considered tuff. He plays for Oklahoma City Thunder and he is a skilled player that scores many points for his team. I would like to have his basketball skill one day. My final example of something that is tuff would be having a cell phone. Almost everyone has a cell phone, and you can do a lot of activities on it which makes it fun to own one. If a person doesn’t have a cell phone they can’t keep up with their friends as well and participate in social media, which is what connects them to their friends. So, if someone doesn’t have a cell phone, they might not seem cool or
