The scent of a Woman, a truly touching film that has many different virtues throughout it. From something so basic; a college student helping a disabled person. To something so deep; someone wanting to end their own life. Either way, this film has many different themes and messages.
There are over 100 different themes that can be included in a movie, however a few main themes that fit just right in Scent of a Woman is loyalty, friendship, and justice yet the dominant theme is loyalty. The theme loyalty is driven throughout the movie by a couple of different ways from many characters. As the first example, no matter how many times Lieutenant Frank said harsh statements to Charles, told him to leave, and how miserable Charles was, he wouldn't leave. As the second example, the incident that happened with Charles and his “friends” on campus. Charles had many opportunities to tell the administration who was part of the prank, however, he was loyal and didn't say a word.

Lieutenant Frank had the dilemma of giving up on his own life and Charles had the dilemma of something he was drawn into by his friends. Throughout the movie, the two men with serious dilemmas had no idea what the outcome would be. They had to dig deep into their souls to find a way to continue their own lives. Throughout the film, each character knew what they wanted to do, yet at the very end, it was changed.
The message throughout the movie is that no matter what happens in your life, you can restart it. Even though we only know one way of living, there is always a possibility of a different way. The beginning of your life and the paths you chose can determine your future. At the beginning of your career, or the end of your career, you can always find the strength from within to change and make your life better and worth
