These activities are made to worship big brother who is the key figure in the Party. The role of the children was to, “[turn] outward, against the enemies of the State, against foreigners, traitors, saboteurs, thought-criminals.” (Orwell 24). By doing this they are also introduced to hate and fear of anyone who poses a threat to BIG Brother. They are introduced to War propaganda, hate week, two minute hate, execution of war criminals, and the concept of not trusting anyone. These children would often turn their parents in to the thought police making it, “normal for people for people over thirty to be frightened of their own children” (Orwell 24). Children are easily manipulated when they are young because they haven’t had any experience of their own. If they are introduced concepts such as loyalty for the party they will use that as their foundation for growth and development. The creators of the machine knew that certain people would rebel against the life style of the machine and decided to eliminate them before they could develop and rebel. By controlling who gets to have children and what type of people live it allows this civilization to have better control of their citizens.
