This is thanks to Henry ford who created the idea of instead of people moving to the car to install the thousands of parts necessary in the model t, the car move to them. An article on the Ford website explains the first assembly line by stating “The first moving assembly line. It simplified assembly of the Ford Model T’s 3,000 parts by breaking it into 84 distinct steps performed by groups of workers as a rope pulled the vehicle chassis down the line.” Although the process seems primitive compared to our computerized assembly line, one hundred years ago this idea revolutionized the world. Another statement from the ford website says “The new process revolutionized production and dropped the assembly time for a single vehicle from 12 hours to about 90 minutes.” This process manufactured the model t eight times faster which increased profit and decreased the cost. According to the ford website, they were eventually they were making a model t every 24 seconds. Although Henry Ford’s idea to pull the chassis seems out dated to us at the time it gave amazing results and even now we are seeing the results of this idea reflect in our lives. Things are being mass produced on an unimaginable level, thanks to the assembly line. The invention of the assembly line has decreased the time it takes to make the product buy a substantial …show more content…
Thanks to Henry Ford and his goal to provide us with low cost automotive and make the assembly process as efficient as possible and a well understanding of how time and money are related, he invented the assembly line. The assembly line became the most efficient process in manufacturing product on a large scale which allowed manufactures to meet the consumer’s demands. The assembly line allowed for low market prices because everything was made in bulk and each product was made faster and spent less time being manufactured and more products were being made. Also the material and parts required were also manufactured on an assembly line in bulk and sold in bulk. In todays society there is a high demand for everything and with a rising population we need to produce a lot of goods and the only way this would be done accurately and safety is by computerized assembly lines which not only increased the number of products manufactured it did it with extreme cost efficiency. The assembly line industrialized the world, in todays society every manufacturing, processing and packaging faculty will have some form of assembly line because it is the must efficient way to get the job done on a large scale. All of these factors that the assembly line has given us is why it plays such a large role in our economy, the assembly line has provided us with more jobs because more people are needed to run manufacturing,
