There are three things businesses cannot success without: vision, mission and values statements. When they are used properly, it can become a strong tool to develop and improve the business. Leaders of businesses should create motivating words to employees to clearly remind them of the main purpose of the firm. By making uplifting, and attentive statement, it is easier to communicate with employees to make sure they know the goals of the company. Employees of a company with clear vision, mission and value statements will more likely work with higher sense of pride and motivation because without purpose and vision, the company will go nowhere (Mollenhauer, 2015). A good example of this is the five-year corporate plan which was released on May 29th 2013 by Andy Byford, the current chief executive officer (CEO) of Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). TTC is a public transport agency that operates busses, trains, streetcars and paratransit services in Toronto. Canada. Byford stated that the corporate plan’s vision, mission and core value is to make: “a transit system that makes Toronto Proud…to provide a reliable, efficient and integrated bus, streetcar and subway network that draws its high standards of customer care from our rich traditions of safety, service and courtesy and value both the quality and quantity of time spend on the TTC” (TTC corporation, 2013). …show more content…

As Moore (1995), argued the very purpose of a mission statement is to “be specific and tightly focused”. The value and positive impacts of my vision statement for Open Minds is the ability for the organisation to aspire and express the beliefs and values, through a foundation of a guiding philosophy, not alone limited by a conceptual belief but also able to be implemented in action. As Egan(1989, pp. 455-9), argued this important purpose of a vision statement, as a form of art “portraying an image” and “a key learning tool” that “If one could code the knowledge to be passed on and embed it in a story form, then it could be made more faithfully memorable than by any other means”. The vision statement serves as an aspirational tool for the organisation to encourage and maintain an exchange of values and beliefs as well as the encouragement of future ideas, as the organisation and individuals are provided with an effective mindset in which assists them upon how they complete their work by aligning towards the key…

However, it cannot be easily concluded that traits alone are sufficient for effective leadership or the absence of some of these traits make them any less leader, because trait theory ignore the interaction between leaders and their followers as well as other situational factors (Robbins and Coulter, 2002).…
