First, a person’s timidity and disingenuousness can be communicated through their movements and demeanor. Most of the time a person’s body language is subconsciously registered by others. Still, body language is an important aspect in building social relationships. Therefore, it is an important feature of effective leadership. Secondly, letting go of inhibitions will help a person be a skilled leader. More importantly, letting go of inhibitions helps people live more freely and be more comfortable in their skin. Trying to filter every thought is very exhausting. Improv has taught me that the free association thoughts I have are not inherently wrong. I’m usually not as afraid to say how I feel, and I’m able to sufficiently frame those thoughts. As for freedom of movement, I still have a ways to go. I’m not very conscious of the way I move and my physicalizations. It would be beneficial for me to use my body language more effectively in daily life.
