We have all been told that we are in charge of our destiny, that it is up to us to determine what our future will look like, and that we are in control of the choices we make. What if that were not the case? What if we have been fooled into believing that everything is in our hands and then we try our hardest to end up becoming something that has already been planned for us by a power larger than existence? The Naturalism genre conveys the power that our society and social restraints have on our destiny.…

It would be almost impossible to hire a teen for one month out of the summer because most businesses search for long-term employees. Also, parents that rely on that working teenager may struggle to get by if their child attends a year-round school. These are just some of the possible outcomes if schools choose to switch to a year-round agenda. This is unacceptable. Allan G. Osborne Jr., a retired principal of the Snug Harbor Community School in Quincy, Massachusetts, expresses that evidence for year-round schools that show improvement are sparse and many educators are reluctant to experiment with year-round school schedules (Osborne Jr. 28).…

Even in a situation where the teacher miss school due to sickness or any family matter they held back their whole class because of the day the teacher miss they aren't able to teach material the students need to be prepared. While in a year round school, that wouldn't be a problem because time is always in their side. Even if the student misses class they would still be able to be in same term with the other student because of all the time they have and get the chance to get back in pace. Same case for the teacher because even if they miss school they can still have their student ready. Time is always with year round schools and they can take their time to teach student and with more time can better truly understand the subject and truly be prepared in the future.…

Many have argued if Florida schools should switch to year-round school. Florida should not switch to year-round school because it will make attending after school activities difficult and would make it harder, on parents who have to work over the time that their children are off from school. Year-round school would allow students and teachers to have more stretched out breaks instead of one long summer, that may lead to summer slide. Changing to year-round school would make everything harder so Florida should stick with traditional and not switch to year-round. First of all, after school activities including sports, music and many more are a great way for students in the community to stay active and involved.…

Arguments on the merit of the implementation of year round schooling in the American public school system arose in the early 1900s, but have grown in complexity with time. In contemporary society, there are several factors affecting the decision of instituting a year round school schedule in place of a traditional school schedule, including its effects on the students, their parents, and the administrators. However, in order to determine the true value of instituting one of the many options for year round calendars, the American nation as a whole must consider the effect of the transition on the American economy. Such factors include the effect of the transition between calendars on the energy costs necessary to keep a school running, student ability to obtain employment, and costs of constructing new schools and additions onto already standing schools to avoid…

"Don't fix what's not broken," is a great quote that makes sense of why year-round schools shouldn't be opened anymore. Both students and teachers lose quality family and friend time, along with countless other important activities. The traditional school schedule has done nothing to prove itself corrupt, and does not deserve to be changed, or replaced. With so many cons, and not enough sufficient pros, the idea of year-round schooling should never have even been presented in Michigan. Because of scheduling problems, loss of summer activities, less social benefits, and negative effects on student motivation, we should stop opening year-round schools in Michigan.…
