Is Our World Too Clean for Children?
Do you come from a household who worry too much about being so clean? Who fuss and complain about having to have everything spotless for their newborn baby’s? Well actually studies have shown that a dirty house can actually benefit your indoor children in their younger ages, this allows their immune system to build up faster and stronger. There are types of bacteria naturally found in soil that activate the neurons that produce serotonin, a key chemical in many bodily functions, as well as a natural antidepressant.
Playing in the mud can make children healthier and happier because it is a joyful experience for kids! In the article, “Too Clean for Our Children’s Good?”, Perris Klass, Medical Department from New York Times claims that microorganisms in early childhood is actually good for us because it helps develop the immune system. For example, Klass supports her claim by stating that “parents who just sucked their pacifiers had a lower risk of developing eczema.” The author also claims that Doctor Gilbert might develop vaccines that would help children’s Immune System, by providing controlled exposures to some of the most important microbes and microbial components.

Szokan explains that buying a dog for your children is good for them! She says that it is better to buy a dog instead of a cat because they are dirtier. She states that having and eating dirt in your home is healthy. Meanwhile, being too clean is unhealthy. Parents should let their children be exposed to microbes.
