Imagine that you walk into a movie theater and are still deciding between two movies, Thor Ragnarok and the Justice League. Would you choose the one where the hero is dark and dresses like a bat or the one where the hero is constantly making jokes and comical things happen regularly. There are many ways Marvel is better than DC, one of these reasons is the fact that Marvel’s characters are more positive than DC’s, I mean would you prefer a superhero who fights with pink swords and guns with flashes of pink sparkles and stars when they make contact? Or would you rather have a depressing guy in an all black batsuit running around talking in a ridiculous low voice?…

Based off of stereotypes, heroes are supposed to have ridiculous costumes and good looks, but in reality, heroes are supposed to be people that use the events around them, and their knowledge to complete their tasks. They are usually based off of appearances, and are not always viewed by the traits that make them fit into the title of a hero. A hero has characteristics of being honorable, being selfless when trying to protect others, and not acting fearful when everything around is against your favor. Heroes are people that are honorable/honored because their lives were sacrificed for the greater good. In an excerpt it says, “...Douglass, this former slave, this Negro beaten to his knees...visioning a world where none is lonely, none hunted...…

In both The Odyssey by Homer, a story about a great Greek hero and his journey back home to his wife and son, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon, a story about a boy who has autism and runs away from home and faces many mental roadblocks along the way, heroic traits are displayed. Both of these books show heroes who emerged and gained strength. Odysseus illustrates incredible physical strength but lacks mental strength.…

Muscular men with superhuman features is the definition of a hero on google. Even though superheroes in comics can be heroes, true heroes are ones who normally aren’t recognized for their physical features, but their actions. In The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton, Darrel Curtis is considered a hero because he raises and cares for his siblings and friends. Darry can also be recognized as an anti-hero considering he slapped Ponyboy in anger. “Tragedy of college student, 19, left to raise her three younger siblings after both parents killed in Hurricane Sandy”, by Rachel Quigley from Daily Mail, likewise shows Zoe Everett being a hero because, like Darry, she also cares for her siblings after her parents’ death.…

“The Pro-Social Mission” If you think about what a superhero means to you, many answers may fly around like bravery, strength, or power. Very rarely do you ever hear about what exactly makes a superhero, super. In my opinion, I believe it is this pro-social mission that keeps them going on the never ending battle against the fight with evil.
