The tonsil are part of the lymphatic system, their main job is to help fight infections. Tonsillectomy is an outpatient surgical procedure to remove the tonsil. It is one of the most common surgeries performed worldwide. Tonsillectomy is less likely to involve complications when done in children because a child is more likely to heal faster and adapt better to not having the tonsils.
