Tommy Boy Essay

After watching the movie “Tommy Boy” I have learned many things about businesses and how there run. One thing that I learned was that there are many disadvantages and advantages to inheriting a business. I have also come to the conclusion that the business in “Tommy Boy” was not going to survive from what I have seen.
Based on what I have seen in “Tommy Boy” I have noticed many advantages to being a child in a family owned business. One example is that you get accepted into the business at a pretty high spot. In “TB” (“Tommy Boy”) this is shown when he gets a corner office straight out of college. Another advantage to being a kid in a family owned business is that you don’t have to build up the company. In “TB” when Tommy comes back from school we can see that his father has built a fairly successful business with lots of products to be sold and money coming in. When Tommy walks in the floor we see all the employees saying hi to him. This shows an advantage that you probably already have exposer in the business and you may not be having people resenting your leadership like you

These may include that you inherit family problems. In “TB” this is shown when his father dies and he realizes that without his father there really isn’t any customers to sell to. Staying on the topic of family death sometimes when your family member dies it may also spell the death of your business. The example from “TB” is when the father dies and there only option seems to be to sell the business because they lost deals with the father. In another turn of events a disadvantage could also be that you can inherit your family’s problems such as in “TB” when Tommy and the company realize that they still need to get money for the brake pads. As with all types of business family owned has many disadvantages to go along with its advantages and you must be able to weigh these

This being said, my “plan b” occupation is not dependent on whether or not my first career works out, but when I gain enough money to move forward with my second occupation. My “plan b” is to open up my own shop that will include a coffee shop, book store, and bakery in one. I will call it Drury Lane, based off of the Muffin Man nursery rhyme (I would like to keep the name a out of the general public so no one steals it. Thank you.)…

TITLE OF THE ESSAY Introduction In the year of 1984, an almost complete skeleton, with the exception of the hands and feet, of an eight-year old boy was found by Kamoya Kimeu in Nariokotome near Lake Turkana in Kenya (Brown et al., 1986). The Nariokotome Boy, formerly known as the Turkana Boy/WT 15000, was very special in that it was the only hominid from the H.erectus produced with the most complete skeleton and was chronometrically dated back to about 1.6 million years (Brown et al., 1986). The hominid was about 160 cm (5’3”) tall with a brain size of 880cm3. This discovery was thought to be very crucial, because such well-preserved postcranial elements make for a very unusual and highly useful discovery, because these elements are scarce at other H.erectus sites (Text-Book).…

PTSD Stands for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and usually stems from an experience where there was a genuine fear for their safety, or they witnessed something horrible happen to a loved one or anyone else. In the story, Jim seems as someone who has completely detached himself from his present environment and is no longer a part of that community.…
